Yippee, The Book is Out

The two plus year process of serializing Around the World in Fifty Courts and then publishing it came to fruition on the release date, November 1, 2022. Shortly after, it was celebrated in a back-and-forth book chat with HRH the Earl of Wessex in conjunction with the opening of Westwood Court Tennis.

Readers of Pundificator.com are generally familiar with the story but hundreds of comments on the website have been incorporated into the book itself.

If you’d like to order a copy, Here is how you do so. Email Kathryn McNicoll at Ronaldson Publications (kathryn@ronpubs.com)  and give her your mailing address and credit card information. Expect to be charged  £35 plus postage.

Just what the court tennis player in your life wants for Christmas.

Upcoming book chat stops include:

  • December 7, 2022 — National Tennis Club, Newport, RI
  • December 8, 2022 — Racquet & Tennis Club, New York, NY
  • December 15, 2022 — Racquet Club of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA
  • A book tour of clubs in England is planned for the Spring of 2023

If you would like to host an event, please email me at havenpell@mac.com.

On a recent flight to Chicago for a book chat, I noticed some of my fellow travelers in the airport were already lost in thought.

Haven,
Congratulations on the feat of the visits and the feat of the writing! By the way, I’ll be in Sydney from February to May and would love to connect with members of the RT community while I’m there. Would appreciate any introductions you can provide.

As do I. Maybe that will be the moment for a visit to Lambay? I could then take it out of the chapter called “Unplayed and Unplayable.”

It would be great to get you to Lambay.
Please let me have your northern European dates once they firm up; and we could make a plan.

Best, Louis

Your fan base, Haven, might not realize that you peaked in 1962 when you went up the middle in OT to score the game-winning and Championship winning goal for the mighty Isthmian First Hockey Club at St. Paul’s — affectionately known as the “Doormats.” The journey of you and your teammates to this pinnacle in the hockey world should occupy the attention of your next literary chapter. Congratulations on completing this initial literary chapter — enjoy your well-deserved book tour.

In a world filled with tweets posted by actual twits. I think it is wonderful to see you adapting your considerable literary and intellectual skills to something as wonderfully prosaic as a traditional book. Hardbound too no less. Lovely.

Hi Haven,
Thank you for your delightful writing – it’s been fun to follow your journey as a person new to the game of Court Tennis. Kathryn’s email does not appear to be working – is there a better contact to reach out to for those interested in your book? Thanks again!
